"X" Windex on Granite Counter tops

At a broker open house this morning in Bar Harbor, Maine, the listing agent was cleaning up the counter top (after serving us breakfast) and said "Did you know that you should not use Windex on granite counter tops?" I had NO idea that ammonia products would damage the surface! By the way, Connie, your Cranberry sausage breakfast souffle that you served this AM was Delicious! No wonder agents love to attend your open houses!!
What is the best way to clean marble and other stones?According to a posting on marble.com

Thanks, Connie. You are 'wicked smart'!

You must be regularly clean up and roughly dusting of granite woktops. Do not use too much cleaner or soap, as sometimes it may leave a film and cause some irregular lines on worktops.
